Humor Video: Miss Teen USA and World Maps

“Miss Teen USA 2007 - South Carolina answers a question”

The question asked is:

Recent polls have shown a fifth of Americans can't locate the U.S. on a world map. Why do you think this is?

The girl who asked the question is actress Aimee Teegarden (born 1989).

The Miss South Carolina is Caitlin Upton (born 1989). Here's a transcript of her answer:

I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some … people out there in our nation don't have maps and, uh, I believe that our, uh, education like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and, I believe that they should, our education over HERE in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, or, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future, for our children.

At the time, both of them are 18 years old. Iraq and South Africa popped up probably because she had some prep in answering such questions. Her whole answer is a keyword show of US political zeitgeist, stringed together incoherently, and that's what made it funny. e.g.

One of the funny comment on youtube goes: «south carolina you tried your best… however, it's time to admit that your destiny lies in porn.» (—omly85)

We can all laugh at her, but note that she's just 18 at the time. When i was 18, i don't know shit. If you ask this question to US Americans over age 30, probably the best answer from majority will be “i dunno.”.
