Xah's Note
-
-
Xah's note: This guy seems to be typical of wikipedia moron, who are bent to do edit war and other things. He did not seems to have spent time on the issue, and perhaps merely noting my haughtiness in my writing, and now want to come here to pick a bone. In the follow, i'll give a full detail of this incidence for the record.

-
-
There are 3 articles involved in question. In the article Human_sacrifice, i added a quote from his vid, with ref link to a url. This quote is added to the “Contemporary human sacrifice” section, following the same format on that section, where i added a quote.

-
-
In the other 2 articles International_Tibet_Independence_Movement and Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama, i added a link to a url at the bottom “Extenal links” section, with the subsection heading “criticism” (there was none). The url in quetion, is http://xahlee.org/Periodic_dosage_dir/tibet.html , which is written and owned by me. The content of that url's page, is a collection of 5 embedded video clips from youtube, of Li Ao's TV program, in which he talks about Tibet and the Dalai Lama. And, the page has a written transcription from Chinese to English of Li Ao's talk, and also a written summary in English of his series of talks.

-
-
Why I added this link? Because it is important information, relevant to the Wikipedia articles in question, by a internationally known historian. Further, it is a little known fact, if we accept that what Li Ao said are fact. (he provided several verifiable evidences in his show)

-
-
Why did i add a link to my own website? I am aware that one of Wikipedia's guidelines are that users should not add info about themselves or links to their own website. However, i think in this case a special case can be made.

-
-
I have first added the link about a month ago, on Apirl 24th 2008. They got promptly removed without comment. In May 1st 2008, which is about a week later, i added them back in, and they got promptly removed again without any discussion or reason i'm aware of. Then, yesterday, May 28 2008, i added them again. Given the duration of breaks i added these links, and given that there was no proper reason or remark for deleting my edit, my edit is a very good behavior by any academic standards, as well as by Wikipedia's guidelines.

-
-
Yesterday, a persan Dieter A Bachmann (aka dab or DBachmann on Wikipedia) removed my links, and left a remark on my page. He used a Wikipedia template (i.e. a easy-to-insert short tag, that expands to predefined common text of Wikipedia warnings or guidlines) The paragraph begin: “Welcome to Wikipedia...” and it continues to say that “ Wikipedia is not a collection of links; ... nor should it be used for advertising or promotion...”

-
-
I assume that Dieter has taken some time to read my Wikipedia page or my website, to note that the url i used is a site i own. However, to know that fact, one pretty much should also be aware that i've been editing Wikipedia since 2003, isn't a Wikipedia newbie.

-
-
The behavior of Dieter, intentionally or not, is a mild insult. A more proper conduct, with politeness, is actually to say something to the effect that “... i noticed you used links to your own website... you know that one of Wikipedia rule is that not to link to one's own site? Also, i'm not sure Li Ao is notable or his info trustworthy... can you elaborate on that?”

-
-
After Dieter left this message, i left a remark on this page clarifying some facts about my edit, and i also left a message on his talk page explaining i reverted 2 of the articles back and with my reasons. Also, i edited the Human_sacrifice article so that the link is no longer to my website, but to the one youtube video of Li Ao's talk where he talked about Tibet torturing people. (the reason i did not edit the other 2 article's links to point to youtube source is because, Li Ao's TV program is a series, segmented into 5 youtube videos. There is no one site i know of coherantly represent it. Also, only 2 of the 5 has English subtitles. My website, collect all these 5 youtube as embeded link, and give a English written summary of his key points. (note: without any of my person view or confirmation))

-
-
The Dieter person replied to my remark this: “Xah Lee, I will ask you again to refrain from linking to xahlee.org, which is your personal website. Also, try to keep your "the Dalai Lama eats babies" nonsense to yourself.” He also reverted my edit again. On the Human_sacrifice article, the comment he left when reverting is: “rv trolling”.

-
-
This is a bad behavior because it is clearly semi-insult. It ignores all context except the fact that the link in question is one that i own and wrote. It ignores that fact that i took his concern and made one of the link to youtube source as appropriate. Also, the phrase “the Dalai Lama eats babies” is clearly insulting in nature. (Li Ao's lecture did not in anyway mention or relate to “Dalai Lama eats babies”)

-
-
If Dieter is a good person, he must have noticed that i made a chance according to his concern of linking to my website. Also, the question is whether the info provided by Li Ao is in agreement with his sensibilities. If he agrees, perhaps none of this would have happened. The issue of Tibet is a controversial, political issue, in fact involves international politics by politicians.

-
-
The anonymous person MastCell, who left a message here above, seems to be a worse person than Dieter. Dieter and other have reverted all my edits yesterday. There shouldn't be a issue unless i revert or argue again. However, for some reason MastCell noticed this incident, and had to come to me to pick a fight.

-
-
Wikipedia is full of these fuckheads. What can you do?

-
-
I will, plot my usual course of action. That is, honest, persisntant, and without getting all worked up (and in general follow Wikipedia rules too). Meanwhile, it should be noted, that i don't give a flying fuck to these ignorant, young, bored, fuckfaces that permeate our modern world.

-
-
Note to Dieter or MastCell. Do whatever it is that you do. Try to be honest, sincere, loving. And try, not to let me rile you up. Your behavior, is not judged by whether you won a edit war. Your behavior, your character, is judged, by the history of humanity in long term.

Edit to Arctic Region Supercomputing Center

Hi, I just reverted an edit of yours to ARSC- a link to an outside company. As a general rule the addition of unrelated links to an article constitutes spam, and while I don't think that was your intention, it may come across that way. In cases where unrelated articles have similar names and may be confused, you can use the the templates found here: On-Article Disambig Template Messages, however you will want to link to the wikipedia article for a given subject, not an outside link. If you have any questions regarding this you can leave a message on my talk page or consult the Manual of Style. All the best and happy editing, --L'Aquatique talktome 08:17, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Xah's note

The above on the article ARSC, is about Arctic Region Supercomputing Center. I added a sentenc that ARSC is also a software named A Really Simple Chat software, with this associated url: http://old.manuel.kiessling.net/projects/software/arsc/

I'm not sure how well-known this software is, but i thought it's a fact that might be worth of noting. Note: i have no affiliation with the software whatsoever. I realized it only because when i was doing resarch on chat software. Xah Lee (talk) 13:59, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

That's fine, in the future a link like that would go on the article page of the A Really Simple Chat Software. Then you could put a link at the top of Arctic Region Supercomputing Center that says "Not to be confused with... blah blah" and link that to the article for A Really Simple... Thanks for your reply- L'Aquatique[talk] 20:52, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Partlet

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Partlet, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://everything2.net/index.pl?node_id=295916. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:37, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Xah's Note

Note that text i used for the article Partlet, which i started, is from 1913 Webster dict, whos's copyright has expired. This is a stupid bot incidence. Xah Lee (talk) 13:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Partlet

Another editor has added the "prod" template to the article Partlet, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the prod template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 05:44, 25 January 2008 (UTC)

Xah's note

I forgot about this notice above until today, and the article is apparently already been deleted.

Note that, Partlet is: A covering for the neck, and sometimes for the shoulders and breast; originally worn by both sexes, but later by women alone.

This is significant item ideal for encyclopedic entry. Xah Lee (talk) 13:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Linking to your own website

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. dab (𒁳) 12:06, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Xah's Note

The above refers to these articles:

1. Human_sacrifice, 2. International_Tibet_Independence_Movement, 3. Tenzin Gyatso, 14th Dalai Lama.

The item i added are, a link to the website:

* Li Ao on Tibet Criticism by Chinese historian Li Ao.

Which is a written summary and embedded youtube videos and links, to a series of TV program by the Chinese Historian Li Ao, on the issues of Tibet.

Li Ao is a noted historian of international fame. In his TV show, he showed photos and documents of various sources that he has collected, to show us that Tibet flay human skin, under 14th Dalai Lama's command.

Li Ao is famously known for his skill in exposing the unknown or myths.

In the above Wikipedia articles, this information is important, in particular because there is no criticism in the external links. I've added this link about a month before but they got removed. One of the guy who removed it, his comment for the removal was simply “I don't think so”. Other removal are anonymous i think.

Fact should be known.

Let me be a little more direct. If you continue edit-warring to re-add links to your personal website, your account will be blocked from editing. If this material is indeed notable and relevant, then find an independent, reliable source for it that does not involve your personal website. MastCell Talk 16:38, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
