Gamer SWATTED Phenomenon

The Creatures (Kootra) got SWAT Raided (SWATTED) #FreeKootra2014

in gaming community, there's a thing called SWATTING. That is, when you are playing game (usually some sort of military gun battle) and while broadcasting it live, someone who hates you (For example, a rival player) calls police and make a false report that you got bombs etc, so that actual SWAT team burst into ya door, and it's all in video, streamed live.

supposedly this SWATTING prank happens more frequently since last year, even FBI's website has a page about it.

FBI page about “SWATTING” http://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/2008/february/swatting020408

i've been in Second Life playing combat from about 2008 to 2010. Most of them are teens or early 20s. Yes, they are, idiotic of the idiotic. Yet, in game, there's nothing you can do. It is aggression and nonsense hell. It is, Lord Of The Flies.

the guy in the video is Jordan Mathewson (aka Kootra). He runs a company named The Creatures LLC, as a video game related entertainment business.

here's more info about “SWATTING” and this incident:

Swatting is the act of tricking an emergency service (via such means as hoaxing an emergency services dispatcher) into dispatching an emergency response based on the false report of an ongoing critical incident.

The term derives from SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), a highly militarized type of police unit in the United States carrying equipment such as door breaching equipment and powerful firearms.

Swatting has been associated with online harassment campaigns, and episodes range from large to small -- from the deployment of bomb squads, SWAT units and other police units and the concurrent evacuations of schools and businesses, to a single fabricated police report meant to discredit an individual as a prank or personal vendetta.[1]

The action of swatting—linked to the action of doxxing (obtaining the address and details of an individual)—has been described as terrorism due to its potential to cause disruption, waste the time of emergency services, divert attention from real emergencies and possibly cause injuries and psychological harm to persons targeted.[2][3] The act of making false reports to emergency services is punishable by prison sentences in the U.S. and a crime in many other countries.[4]

so far, the prankerof the Kootra case haven't been caught. The case is ongoing.

Paul Horner Fake

by the way, if you have seen a article about the teen pransker name Paul Horner got sentenced to 25 years, that's a fake article. That article has spread on the internet. The Paul Horner fake report seems to originate from a site called National Report. The courte video used by National Report is actually of a real case where a teen killed a toddler, see http://www.wgrz.com/story/news/local/2014/01/10/dylan-schumaker-sentenced-for-toddler-death/4407071/ (and WGRZ seems a valid news agency, see WGRZ)

also, there's another article from “The Epoch Times” that debunk the fake Paul Horner article. Note that The Epoch Times is a frontend of Falun Gong. See:
